Meadowbank Park Regional Playground is part of the Meadowbank Park Masterplan, and was partly funded by the NSW Government through the Stronger Communities Fund.
The new playground constructed by Glascott Landscape and Civil is accessible and inclusive to children of all abilities and their carers, featuring multiple active play spaces, a waterplay splash pad, natural discovery and imaginative elements and passive recreational zones within. Upgrade works to key access points formed part of the overall scope to create accessibility from both sides of the park, with a minibus drop-off location with new pathway networks allowing for easy connections to other existing areas within the park.
The new amenities building forms a primary hub to service sporting user groups visiting the new playground and adjacent sports fields. It consists of sports team changing rooms and showers, serviced canteen, store rooms, mechanical plant room to service the new adjoining playground water play and Australian standard 1428
(Disability Discrimination Act) compliant accessible public toilets.
The project was delivered through the 2021 COVID-19 lock down, fortnightly shutdown period and subsequent restrictions imposed by the NSW government for ongoings months, which entailed an additional administrative element for the delivery team to manage.
